King Hussein sends a letter to Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah

In his letter, His Majesty wrote that he would not forget the noble feelings and the good wishes accorded to him by the Saudi royal family.

King Hussein meets with Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister

His Majesty received at his residence in the U.S. capital, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah. The Kuwaiti deputy premier conveyed the good wishes and greetings of Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Jaber al-Ahmad al-Sabah to His Majesty. During the meeting, they discussed the expanding of bilateral relations.

King Hussein receieves Saudi Crown Prince

His Majesty and Crown Prince Abdullah met today in Washington, D.C. Their discussions focused on the Middle East peace process as well as a variety of different issues. The two sides reaffirmed the importance of the U.S. role. King Hussein was also briefed by Prince Abdullah on the outcome of his tour that included the United Kingdom, France, and talks with U.S. President Bill Clinton.

King Hussein arrived in the U.S. capital following a successful third cycle of chemotherapy treatment.

King Hussein’s chemotherapy results are better than expected

Following the third out of six cycles of chemotherapy, His Majesty said in a telephone interview with Jordan Television, that the results are most reassuring as they are better than expected, and that doctors are quite satisfied. King Hussein also said that the new government of Dr. Fayez Tarawneh has started on the right track in meeting the country’s aspirations. His Majesty reiterated his call for transparency and dialogue with all segments of Jordanian society. The king furthered that although Jordan’s problems are smaller in magnitude than other countries, "we still have a long way to go."

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Field Marshal Abdul Hafez Marai Kaabneh returned to Jordan after meeting His Majesty.

King Hussein receives Chief of the Royal Court

His Majesty gave a number of directives to Dr. Jawad Anani, the new Royal Court Chief on several issues. King Hussein also said that he has responded well to chemotherapy and is looking forward to coming home soon.
